"Aware that God was speaking to me one Sunday morning it all came to a climax...."
Ivor Deane

I grew up on a farm in West Cork and can never remember a time in my life when I doubted the existence of God. My parents brought me up to respect God, but at that stage my view of God was someone distant, who would one day judge me. I never realised that it was possible to have a real and personal relationship with the living God.

At the age of fifteen I went to a Christian meeting near my home where I heard that God had created me for a relationship with Himself. He made this possible by sending His Son Jesus to die on the Cross to take the punishment, which I deserved because of my sinfulness. Still in my teens I did not want to do anything that would make me different from all my friends. So I delayed my response to His free offer of forgiveness and eternal life. Thankfully God waited patiently for my response.
Soon after I became ill, months passed and I wasn’t recovering. I knew if I had died at that point I would have spent eternity in hell. Aware that God was speaking to me one Sunday morning it all came to a climax. I knelt at my bedside, confessed my sins to God and asked Him for forgiveness. Straight away I knew God heard my cry, I knew I was forgiven, the slate was wiped clean and I begun a relationship with Him, which has continued to this day. There have been many ups and downs in my life since but I have always being aware of God’s love being lavished on me and one day I will go to be with Him in heaven.
